Vietnam has not determined when to fully reopen to international tourism. Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) have not made any proposals regarding the reopening time yet, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, VNAT’s Chairman confirmed.

Vietnam would evaluate the result of Phu Quoc’s reopening to international tourism and then consider expanding to other localities. Some cities and provinces including Khanh Hoa¸ Quang Nam and Da Nang… have proposed to reopen to foreign visitors after Phu Quoc.

Safety is a prerequisite to restart tourism in the context of the new normal, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized.

Quang Ninh (the Northern province in Vietnam) with reknown Ha Long & Yen Tu officially resumed its intra-provincial tourism from September 21 and plans to welcome back visitors from other localities without local transmissions within 14 days, in the last two months of this year. They are required to be fully vaccinated and take Realtime-PCR tests within 48 hours.

Last week, we also informed you about Anex Vietnam – one of the two biggest Charter-flight tour operators taking Russian tourists to Phu Quoc, has submitted a 7+ scheme to VNAT aimed at welcoming the return of Russian visitors to the country after a hiatus caused by COVID-19. Anex Vietnam will therefore co-ordinate with Russia’s Azur Air as it strives to conduct charter flights to three Vietnamese airports, namely Phu Quoc, Cam Ranh, and Da Nang, with a frequency of one flight per week.

Several days ago, Representatives from tourism management agencies of provinces and cities nationwide focused their discussions on measures to gradually recover tourism activities in line with a safe roadmap.

Accordingly, this month, provinces and cities began organizing training courses on COVID-19 prevention and control regulations, processes in welcoming and serving tourists, criteria for safe tourism services, as well as preparations for incidents and risks.

From November, localities that have controlled the pandemic will start welcoming back domestic holiday-makers. They are required to strictly comply will regulations on vaccination against COVID19 and testing.
