Phu Quoc Island has a tropical monsoon climate with two distinct seasons: dry season from November to April of coming year, rainy season from May to October.
Airport information
Phu Quoc is the most attractive destination for tourism in Vietnam, the number of tourists traveling by air is very large. Hence, the airlines such as BamBoo Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, JetStar have been operating an average of 20 flights to Phu Quoc per day in normal situations.
The airport is located in the south of Phu Quoc Island, about 10km in the north of Duong Dong town’s center, bordering Suoi May hamlet in the north, Duong To hamlet in the south, Ham Ninh commune in the east, coast in the west (about 900m).
Transportation from Phu Quoc airport to the downtown
As a famous tourism destination, the transportation between the airport and the downtown is various. There are many vehicles for visitors to go to the center. For example:
- Bus: There are 2 options for tourists including the airport bus and the bus offered from the airlines.
- Airport Bus: There is only one route from Phu Quoc airport to the downtown and vice versa. Bus-stop is at the airport’s parking area (as soon as you get off the plane you move to the airport exit and walk about 1 minute). Charge is fixed at VND 50,000 / ticket / person.
- Airlines’ Bus: the service is varied from each airline. You can book and catch the bus about 30 minutes upon arrival at the airport. Charge is fixed at VND 40,000 / trip.
- Taxi: you can also travel by Taxi in case of carrying many baggages. At the airport, there are many taxi companies namely Mai Linh, Hoang Long or Sasco Phu Quoc. Charges of 4 seats or 7 seats taxi are from VND 150,000 to VND 170,000 on an average of about VND 17,000 / km.
- Motorbike Taxi : With short distance from the airport to the center, you can save a lot with the service. Charge is calculated at VND 10,000/km. However, motorbikes are not parked in the airport, so travelers need to walk to the road to catch the motorbike taxi.
